Steering shaking at speed?
Wheel Balance & Valve Replacement
A wheel that sits a few grams out of true will shake the whole car at motorway speed and chew through tread while it does it. Our wheel balancing and valve replacement service brings the balancer to your address, so the correction happens exactly where the vehicle is parked.
Every Mobile Tyre Fixer van carries a wheel balancer, clip-on and adhesive weights, rubber snap-in valves and TPMS service kits. Describe where the vibration shows up and the fitter turns up ready to true the wheels and renew the valves in a single visit.

Our Mobile Tyre Services
Balancing is part of every service below, and a new valve goes in whenever a tyre comes off the rim.
Emergency Mobile Tyre Fitting
When a tyre gives out completely there’s nothing left to balance until a new one is on the rim. Tell us where you’ve stopped and an emergency fitter comes to you, at the roadside or on a motorway hard shoulder once everyone is behind the barrier, with the replacement balanced before you pull away.
Mobile Tyre
Replacement
Changing tyres is the natural moment to sort weights and valves in one go. We replace tyres on cars, vans and light commercials wherever they sit, fit a fresh valve with each one and spin every wheel on the balancer before it goes back on the hub.
Same Day Tyre
Fitting
A wobble that started this morning doesn’t have to stay with you all week. Ring early and a same-day slot is often workable, with last-minute calls taken around the clock so nobody spends days driving on a wheel that shakes.
Home & Workplace Tyre Fitting
The balancer travels in the van, so this work happens on your driveway or in a workplace car park instead of a ramp bay. You keep the keys within reach, we get the wheels spinning true, and the rest of your day carries on untouched.
How to Tell a Wheel Has Lost Its Balance
Balance problems announce themselves at speed, and the symptom usually points straight at which end of the car is at fault:
- Shimmy through the steering: a wobble felt in your hands between roughly 50 and 70mph normally means a front wheel
- Vibration in the seat or floor: felt through the body rather than the steering, and usually a rear wheel
- A shake that peaks then fades: balance faults build to a certain speed and ease off again beyond it
- Patchy, banded tread wear: an out-of-balance wheel scuffs rubber away in patches instead of evenly
A weight can be flung off by a pothole or lost during an aggressive wheel clean, so a check is worth booking after any heavy knock. Drivers around Aldermoor and out towards Swindon often add this to a tyre change rather than making a separate trip.
What a Mobile Balancing Visit Involves
The kit that normally lives in a garage bay now travels in the van, so the job runs the same way on your driveway:
- The wheel comes off using your locking wheel nut key, and any old weights are stripped away.
- The rim is cleaned where weights sit, because dirt and brake dust stop adhesive weights holding.
- The wheel is spun on the balancer, which reads exactly where weight is needed and how much.
- New weights go on, clip-on for steel rims and adhesive for alloys, then the wheel is re-spun to confirm the reading.
- A fresh valve goes in whenever the tyre has been off the rim, and TPMS valves get a new service kit.
Wheel nuts are torqued to the manufacturer’s figure and pressures are set before the fitter leaves, so nothing is left to bed in on its own.
Tyres, Valves and Weights Carried on Board
Alongside budget, mid-range and premium tyres, every van carries snap-in rubber valves, TPMS service kits and both clip-on and adhesive weights to suit steel and alloy rims on cars, vans, 4×4 and SUV models.

Why a New Valve Goes In With Every Tyre
A valve is a small part with a big job, which is why renewing one is standard practice rather than an upsell:
- Rubber snap-in valves harden and crack with age, heat and ozone, and a perished valve leaks slowly
- The core inside can weep even when the tyre and rim are sound, showing up as a wheel that keeps dropping pressure
- A valve is only properly accessible while the tyre is off the rim, so leaving it means paying to break the bead a second time
- TPMS valves take a fresh service kit — seal, nut and core — each time the tyre is removed, or the seal can weep
- Sensor batteries are sealed in and run down eventually, usually after several years, at which point the sensor itself is replaced
Booking a Balance and Valve Check in Four Steps
Step 1
Describe the symptom
Tell us the speed it appears at and whether you feel it in the wheel or the seat.
Step 2
Give us the vehicle
Registration or tyre size, plus whether the car runs TPMS sensors.
Step 3
Agree the price
Confirmed on the call, per wheel or for a full set, with no hidden extras.
Step 4
Balanced where you are
Weights fitted, valves renewed, pressures set and nuts torqued.
Lines are staffed 24/7, and a fast booking never shortens the list of checks the fitter works through.
Why Mobile Balancing Callouts Make Sense
What Our Customers Say
Balancing and Valve Questions, Answered
Can wheels really be balanced without visiting a garage?
Yes. The balancer runs from the van, so the wheel is removed, spun, corrected and refitted at your address. All it takes is level ground and enough room to work beside the vehicle.
Is it safe to keep driving on an unbalanced wheel?
It isn’t urgent in the way a split sidewall is, though it isn’t harmless either. The vibration wears tread unevenly and puts extra load on wheel bearings and suspension joints, so correcting it early tends to save money on parts later.
Can you balance a wheel without changing the tyre?
Yes, and it’s a common booking on its own. If the shake appeared straight after a kerb or pothole strike, an immediate check is worth having, because a buckled rim shows up clearly while the wheel is spinning.
Will a new valve be fitted if I only need balancing?
Not automatically. Valves are renewed when the tyre comes off the rim. If the wheel is simply being balanced, the existing valve stays put unless it’s perished or weeping, and the fitter will show you if it is.
Can you work with TPMS sensors?
Yes. A TPMS valve needs a fresh service kit every time the tyre is removed, and those are carried as standard. If a sensor has failed or its battery is spent, we’ll explain what replacing it involves instead of clearing the light and saying nothing.
How many weights does a wheel normally need?
It depends on the wheel, the tyre and how the two sit together. The balancer works the figure out to the gram, which is why every wheel is spun again after the weights go on rather than the job being judged by eye.
Which areas can I book mobile balancing in?
Fitters cover a growing list of areas, including Weston-super-Mare, Westbury, Warminster, Stoke Heath and Thame. If your town isn’t there, ring us and we’ll check whether a van can reach you.
